Shady Creek Lamb Co.

A family-Farm run by Chris Moore and Lyndsey Smith. Located within the Ottawa city limits near Kinburn, Shady Creek Lamb Co. prides itself on producing tender, delicious lamb for the Ottawa Valley.

Unlike many other sheep farms in Ontario, our ewes spend most of their lives outside.
In the spring, summer and fall they graze on pasture, in the trees, and along rocky outcrops of The Canadian Shield. Raising our sheep on pasture means ewes are free to move as a flock, chewing on grass, clovers, shrubs, and young trees (they love willow trees!), accompanied by at least one of our three livestock guardian dogs. In the winter, our ewes are kept safe and sheltered in our multi-paddock barnyard, where they’re fed free-choice hay, corn silage, and mineral, and bedded deep with
straw to stay warm in their wooly coats.

The Busy Bean

The Busy Bean is a local, family run mobile espresso trailer and so much more!

Debbie and Sean were both born and raised in Nepean. (Craig Henry and Parkwood Hills) and our son Scott has now joined us in our business. We have so many fond memories of visiting local farms during our childhood, that we decided to keep that spirit alive in our business! All of our ingredients and products are strictly purchased local. Our coffee beans are purchased from local roasters, all the fresh fruit for our smoothies is purchased from local growers, and our ice cream for our milkshakes from Carleton Place. Even our cups, lids, straws, etc… all purchased from Ottawa businesses only. As a Nepean family, we have a strong sense of community and do everything we can to keep that community bond alive, since we were both raised with importance placed on how important our local farmers are to us! You can always find us at local events, as we choose not to travel outside our community for events. So please come visit us and sample one of our tasty beverages or treats we offer!

In addition to espressos, lattes, cappuccinos, matcha, chai, and teas, we also make old fashioned floats, milkshakes, smoothies, slushies, specialty flavoured hot chocolate and cheesecake with fruit toppings!

The Pepper Moustache

Flavour first, then heat. Hot for hot sake never did it for us. We wanted more out of a hot sauce. So in 2005 when I started making hot sauces for friends and family it was flavour foreplay first! It all starts with fresh picked ingredients from our gardens. All of our Hot Sauces and Spicy Syrups are passionately crafted in small batches. Each with a distinct flavour profile that is created to enhance every meal. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Hot Sauces and Spicy Syrups that I make.

Simply Jalapeno: great for Mexican

Rock’n Moroccan: moroccan flavours with medium heat

Smoky Chipotle: rich, smokey goodness

Reap No More: flavour burst then heat

Maple Thai: sweet heat

Maple Chipotle: sweet smokey heat

Canadian Reaper: heat, sweet, heat, heat +

I grow all the peppers, and as much of the other ingredients as I can in my gardens. What I don’t grow (or don’t grow enough) I source from local farmers. I make everything in small batches to be able to control things.

The Compassionate Rabbit

The Compassionate Rabbit is a Nepean based home bakery, specializing in decorated sugar cookies, DIY cookie decorating kits, gingerbread houses, cakes and cupcakes. My favourite creations are whimsical, original, and contain elements of nature. I work mostly by custom order, and am always happy to bring someone’s vision to life. However, I am also very happy to be bringing non-custom items to market, including seasonal cupcake flavours, themed cookie decorating kits and farm animal sugar cookies.

My sisters and I grew up going to the Log Farm every year, and have fond memories of things like helping to collect maple sap, eating maple taffy, and seeing beautiful farm animals. I am excited to be able to contribute to the magic of this place in some small way, and offer something memorable for kids and adults alike.

I do often offer gluten-free and/or vegan options as well.
